Jalisco - Chapala

Discover its beauty and warmth

...

In a dream landscape, where history through time is permeating with a unique energy that inspires spiritual evolution. Peace, the charm of this beautiful place exalts the soul by opening the field of all possibilities giving rise to a multicolored display of nature and emotion.

Chapala is a Mexican city located in the state of Jalisco, next to Lake Chapala, to which it gives its name, is head of the municipality of the same name.

Its name means 'place of bucaros or small pots' (Nahuatl); 'very wet or soaked place' (coca), or the 'place of chapulines on the water' (Nahuatl). And his shield has great meaning: The elements that form it are inspired by the indigenous past of this population and integrated into the national symbol. Both the chapulín, the waves (water), and the bucaro are elements related to the meaning of Chapala.

How to get there?

Chapala is located 35 minutes by car from Guadalajara International Airport (GDL). You can use a taxi for around $1100 MX Pesos (50 USD).

For your safety, make sure you hire it at the pre-paid stations in the International Arrivals area instead of negotiating directly with a driver. Indicate at the pre-paid station that your destination is "Hotel Villa Montecarlo Chapala", located at Avenida Hidalgo 296, Chapala, Jalisco. Present your paid receipt to the taxi clerk just outside the door.

Should I bring Mexican Pesos?

Most of your food at the convention is included in your registration. If you have an all-inclusive reservation, the cost of your hotel is also included. If you come from another country, we suggest that before leaving the Guadalajara airport for the hotel, you go through a Casa de Cambio in the terminal to buy Mexican Pesos or go to an ATM to make a withdrawal. The exchange rate between the MX Peso and the US Dollar fluctuates around 16.5 Mexican Pesos per $1 US Dollar. Dollars are challenging to use for purchases. Make sure you have Mexican Pesos for that purpose. If you are using credit or debit cards from other countries, some banks require that you call to notify the dates of your trip and not have any setbacks.

What is the weather like and what clothes do I need?

During the day, the average maximum temperature is 26ºC. At night, the average minimum temperature is 15ºC. Because Chapala has an altitude of 1,542 meters above sea level, the evenings and nights are cool, as well as the early mornings. Bring a light jacket, which will also come in handy due to heavy rain in the afternoon or evening.

language icon

What languages are spoken at the convention?

Presentations in the main room will be in English or Spanish and will always be translated simultaneously (as is done at the United Nations). You must present a photo ID to the audio technician each morning upon entering the room to receive your translation equipment. There will always be a bilingual person near you. The cities of Chapala and Ajijic have many native English-speaking inhabitants - Mexicans, Americans, and Canadians. The language of the heart is always understood.
